We at KGHH Publishing like to give a bit back, or pay it forward so to speak. We not only help young talented writers get a start, we have also helped female horror writers, and animal charities with our books.
The last big project For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn, with story and foreword by Lori Depp is still selling well and helping the Make A Wish Foundation. That is why we have decided to continue our good work with this festive flash fiction collection.
We are open to submissions as of now but you’ll have to be quick as the closing deadline for all work is Sunday the 1st of October - so you best get writing.
But the good thing is the work has to be very short - no more than 666 words.
Story submissions can only be made via e-mail to: KENSINGTON_GORE@YAHOO.CO.UK
with the story in the body of the e-mail please. A title would be nice (but that doesn't count to your 666 word limit)
We need to have a contact name or name to publish if different and a valid e-mail to reply to.
It has to be original work and for you to own the copyright. In submitting it you are giving KGHH Publishing the publishing rights for the work and agree to not have it published anywhere else within a year of publication - provisionally 1st December 2017.
Also, it has to fit into our normal rules or work we publish (see Submissions page)
A christmas theme would be nice but have fun and enjoy the challange of flash fiction.
Graeme Parker KGHH Publishing
This is an exciting flash fiction project open to new, existing, and established writers. 50% of the profits are going to the Make A Wish Foundation as part of the KGHH Publishing commitment to good causes.
There are 12 main stories based around the song 'The 12 days of Christmas'.
12 Drummers Drumming
11 Pipers Piping
10 Lords a Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and of course, last but not least a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
These TWELVE longer stories will be written by current writers of KGHH Publishing picked at random.
But where do I come in I hear you ask? Well we are accepting flash fiction stories based on the 12 Days of Christmas theme. As many submissions as you wish are allowed and for any of the 12 mentioned in the song.
The writer will retain the copyright but we ask that they don't submit the story anywhere else for up to 12 months after the publication.
The flash fiction will be line edited. It doesn't have to be horror can be about anything but needs that "12 Days" link - for example a story set around a search for 5 rings.
Your story has to be "flash fiction" and no longer than 666 words long. Kensington Gore picked that number, I guess it's his favourite.
We will try to get in as much quality flash fiction stories as possible but stories will be handpicked to go into the collection and no correspondence will be entered into. We will notify the writer via e-mail only if their story has made it into the collection.
As a percentage is going to charity there is no royalty paid to the writer of the work and we will not supply any free copies to the writers - we hope you understand.
It is to help a good cause and we also have a, writing competition attached that will help up and coming writers.
The 12 best flash fiction stories submitted will not only be in the book but next year put up for a vote and the best of the 12 will be offered a standard two book publishing deal with KGHH Publishing:
More news of that to come. Watch this space....
